About Francis Forgeries
Francis Forgeries is a one-man shop run by yours truly, Michael Wilson. You can find me in the SCA as Francis Bean, where I'm a 14th c. English bladesmith. You can find Michael in his shop in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
I've been blacksmithing since the turn of the millenium, but it didn't take long before my interests settled on blades. Not big, massive broadswords, but the small, delicate daily use knives of the every day Middle Ages. Somewhere along the way I specialized in table knives, found a few people who liked my work and wanted historically-accurate table knives for historical recreation, and the rest was — wait for it! — history.
I started selling knives more seriously around 2013, and founded Francis Forgeries 2 years later. Years later, the business has grown enough that selling at in-person events and by word of mouth on social media just doesn't cut it anymore. Everybody asks where the online store is, so here we are at last.
A short bit about me, personally: I've done a lot of things over my life, but as hearing loss due to Menière's disease has set in, the bladework and jewelry work has become a larger focus. I'm still happy to teach when I can, but that's becoming much more difficult. I'm also happy to consult on metalwork, but can't do it over the phone anymore. You can best catch me either via email or on social media. Just don't waste your time trying to call me, because I literally can't even hear the phone ring.
